Response to COVID-19

updated 2020-03-27, more details on Distribution Model

Mountlake Terrace Concern For Neighbors Food Bank will be open during normal distribution hours (Tue 9:30-11:30) and donation hours (Mon/Tue 7-2) but our warehouse will be closed to the public.

The food bank will adopt a separation and delivery model where clients remain in their cars, volunteers deliver pre-packed boxes of groceries to a holding area, and clients will load their groceries.

The food bank will also adopt a stringent cleanliness model as recommended by WSDA and Snohomish County health district here.

WSDA COVID Guidelines

Snohomish County Health District COVID Guidelines

Cleanliness Guidelines

To the best of our ability, we will (from WSDA site)

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.

  • If you are feeling ill, stay at home and away from others.

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands. Do not cough into your hands.  If tissue isn’t available, be sure to cough only into your elbow.

  • Practice and reorganize your space to promote “social distancing” (at least 6 feet of distance between people)

  • Clean frequently used objects such as counters, shared pens, volunteer check-in stations, handles on carts (if using grocery carts), bathroom door handles, and door knobs/handles.

  • Change food handling gloves every two hours.

Distribution Model

  • We will distribute Tuesday, 9:30-11:30

  • All cars must enter the parking lot from 228th St entry.

  • Entry to grassy area off 48th and entry to parking lot on 229th will be blocked off.

  • You don’t have to show up exactly at 9:30. If we can spread out the distribution, it will go smoother. Everybody will be receiving the same grocery items.

  • Wait in your car until a volunteer comes to your car.

  • Drive up distribution! Ferry lane style through the parking lot. Clients will stay in their cars and receive pre-packed non-perishables and limited perishables depending on family size.

  • Bring your ID! We will be checking IDs for registration purposes. Show your ID through a closed window. If you're new, just tell us, you'll still get groceries.

  • Open your trunk! Volunteers will load the bags into your trunk and off you go.

  • Restrooms are closed! Sorry, you must stay in your car unless directed by a volunteer for grocery loading.

  • Bring your patience! We're doing the best we can under stressful times and new processes.

  • Please, do not leave any groceries behind, take all that is delivered. If you don’t want it, share with a friend.

As things change, we will post on Facebook and website
